Today we visited the National Hamfest in Newark, the first since 2019. It was well attended and the weather was good to. Here are some photos that we took on the Friday.
Hard to believe its been 7 years since a Group of Club Members headed down to the Nevada Radio Store in Portsmouth. We had a great day out and treated to some behind the scenes tours of both the Radio and Music Stores. Great memories, and a picture is shown below from a well known Twitter feed.
Yesterday, Sunday the 2nd October, we were pleased to attend the 47th National Welsh Radio Rally in Newport Gwent. The event was at a new location in Llanwern School and based primarily in a large Sports Hall although traders and refreshments were located outside with plenty of space and seating. Wiltshire Radio Rally manager Brian G6HUI was busy handing out Flyers for our November Rally and we had time to chat to many traders including our own club member Steve M0ZZT who once again had an impressive display of items for sale. All in all a great event and well organised ; the sun was shining too ☀️😊☀️

Club member Jenni seen here operating 20m FT8 for the first time. Conditions were not great but Jenni worked several continents with the Club’s IC-7300 and the Hawkins 20M vertical.
Here are some action shots from our evening of fascinating facts and information all about Over The Horizon Radar. Well reviewed equally well delivered by Chris G4HCW.
for Wiltshire’s Premier Ham Radio Event
Another enjoyable evening at the Club with the Hawkins 20m vertical once again installed and operational.
We welcomed Club Member Richard K4ULD/G4ULD who is in the area for a few weeks. Richard gave us an interesting insight into Ham Radio repeater operations and Tuesday Ham Radio meet ups from his home location in Colarado.
Tonight we took the opportunity to test the Discovery 599 and Xiegu X6100 transceivers using the Hawkins end fed vertical. We made plenty of contacts with some good reports.
A big G3VRE thank you to John Tett G0OID, a long time supporter of the club for his latest donation. It is very much appreciated John.
