Diversity and Inclusion at C&DARC

We are very pleased to announce our Club’s Inclusion Policy. We pride ourselves as setting a standard that supports all and promotes our Club as a modern thinking and welcoming one.

The Inclusion Statement can be found on our website www.chippenhamradio.club under the “About GX3VRE” tab, and for ease of access stated below :

“We embrace Diversity and Equality in a serious way. We are committed to maintaining a Club Membership with a variety of backgrounds, skills and views. The more inclusive we are the better our Club will be. Creating a culture of Equality isn’t just the right thing to do it’s also the smart thing .”

Club Night 19th July

Another good attendance once again despite the hot weather. This evening we took receipt from John G0JYL of some pre rally items on behalf of RAFARS and also had a good conversation with the Lead Hall Rep re planning for the future at the Hall.

We also set up the MFJ-2289 V dipole and did some digi mode operation on 30m.

No pictures this week. Have a good week ahead and best 73s from the Club Website Team.

McMichael Rally 2022 – Report

Another busy morning for the Club’s Rally Committee who were out in force promoting our event at Sonning Rugby Club attending the first McMichael Rally since 2019.

There were lots of interesting traders on show including Martin Lynch and Sons, Malcolm Troy, Kevin and Margaret Kelly, G3KYG and a number of Silent Key Sales. The Model Tanks were also primed and ready for battle. Several Tannoy announcements for the Wiltshire Radio Rally were also made. Here are a few random pictures taken early on in the proceedings.

The weather was sunny and hot and we made a hasty retreat before midday to avoid the worst of heat.

Have a great week ahead from all at the C&DARC Web Team.

A Summit of an Evening – Tuesday 12th July

A big thank you to Robert M0RWX for his very informative presentation and slide show about SOTA. We learnt about Activations, Summit Qualifying, Goats and Chasers amongst many things SOTA enthusiasts do. It certainly is an interesting topic and Robert was keen to promote the health and exercise benefits but tempered it with the need to always go prepared and never take Mother Nature for granted.

Really well supported event and thoroughly well received.

Tuesday 5th July 2022

Tonight we set up a portable FT8 Station in the Club Car Park. Running 10w from an ICOM IC-705 we worked 20 stations.

GX3VRE was also active on the 144 Mhz UKAC this evening with plenty of stations worked.

Special Events

It was a pleasure to activate GB5NF today from Neston Fete. Despite the weather we put on a good display and promoted Chippenham and District Amateur Radio Club.

Running events like these take time to plan, lots of effort and goodwill of those taking part. We hope to continue putting on these kind of events but really need the support of the wider membership to make them a success.
